Will it work with Windows 95/98/NT?

The software works with Windows 95/98/NT

The Teletext card works with Windows 95 and 98 but there is no Teletext driver currently available for NT.


Will it work with Windows 3.1?

Both the Teletext card and the software will work with Windows 3.1. To download the trial version you will need to do the following:

Make a director C:\TEMP
Download mshare.exe to this directory
Download and save unzip.exe to the same directory
At the DOS prompt run unzip mshare.exe
from the program manager run C:\TEMP\setup
Note: pkunzip.exe will not work, so you do need to download unzip.exe.


Will the Teletext card work with my PC?

The Teletext card uses a 16 bit ISA slot which is compatible with most PCs, from early XT, AT 286s through to Pentium computers.

Please check your computer has a spare ISA expansion slot.


Will the software work with my TV / Teletext Card?

Micro Share Investor 3.0 will work with the Micro Share Teletext card and the Hauppauge Win TV VTPlus program.

If you already have a card, you can download and use the trial version of the software with your card.

If you have another make of card please contact us here for details of the availability of other drivers.


Will the Teletext card work with satellite TV?

Provided the signal works with an ordinary TV set it will work with the card.


How do the e-mail updates work?

Note: The e-mail updates are being replaced by a download page.

when you download a closing price file you will have two options:

Open

When you select open Micro Share investor 3.0 will start up
and a gas gauge appears, showing the progress as the file is
un-zipped and the prices are added to the database.
Save
The file should be saved with the yyddmm-D.udz format preferable
in the Investor 3.0 download folder. (default C:\mshare\DownLoad)
After saving the file you will need to import it using File from
the Update Menu.


How do I plot prices through out the day?

The Micro Share real-time program, allows you to plot prices as they change on Teletext.

You can set the program to plot a line graph or show a bar for the high and low prices during a given period. The high/low period can be set to any value from 1 minute up to 200 hours.

You will need a compatible Teletext or TV card to use the realtime program.


How do I get prices for when I'm on holiday?

Teletext
The software can be set to download the prices when Windows starts up. There is also the option to shut down Windows when it has finished. You could use a timer switch to turn on your computer. Make sure the shutdown is enabled as it is bad practice to turn your computer off while Windows is running.

E-mail
An e-mail for each of the days you were away will be waiting for you when you get back.


How do I download a file from the Internet?

When you download a file from the Internet you will be given the option to save that file. The save dialog box has a "Save In" section, allowing you to select which folder the file is saved to.

Probable the simplest place to download to is the Desktop. When the download has finished you will see a new icon on the Desktop which you can then double click to open.

When you have finished with the downloaded file you can drag that file into the recycle bin.



How do I download the service pack?

To start the download process click here. Then when the download dialog box appears, do the following:
  • Select save to a temporary folder or the desktop.
  • Wait for the download process to finish.
  • Run command wgs_sp.exe
